About Ambedkar Nagar District :
The Ambedkar Nagar district was created on September 29, 1995 and was named in the memory of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, who worked for the upliftment of the deprived classes, women and other weaker sections of the Society. The total area of the district is 2520 km². Approximately 90% of the population lives in small farming villages. The district is divided administratively into nine blocks, 5 Tehsils and 3,955 villages. The headquarter city of Akbarpur is situated on the bank of the River Tons (Tamasa), which divides the city into the two parts Akbarpur and Shahzadpur, with the latter being the main commercial centre of the city. The Saryu River is the main river and is located at the northern boundary of the district. Akbarpur is also the birth place of Ram Manohar Lohia (1910-1967) who was a renowned Indian freedom fighter and a socialist political leader. The places of tourist interests in the districts are Kichaucha Sareef , Guru Gobind Sahab, Shiv Baba, and Dr.Ambedkar Park.

Kichaucha Sareef :
His father Hadrat Sultan Sayyad Ibrahim Noor Bakshi rahmatullahi alayh governed the city for approximately 20 years. As well as being a highly noble and just ruler he was also a great scholar, theologian and Sufi. His mother Bibi Khadija Begum was also from the pedigree of distinguished and notable mystics and saints. She was a very religious and pious lady particularly renowned for her punctuality in tahajjud prayer.
